The Voyager is a program that helps students
(grades kindergarten through the third grade) to improve their reading ability.
This program is held by Mrs. Hinojosa who is the
reading coach and is on the testing team for the Voyager program. The
teacher teaches the program to there students in the classroom while Mrs.
Hinojosa checks in on the teachers to make sure the program is being taught
correctly.
There are three classifications of levels that
the students are classified as: Strugglers, Emergers, and on Track. The program
is to let the teachers and parents know where the student is struggling and how
they can help. Voyager has been a very helpful program for the students. It is
very important for the students to attend school; if a student is absent he/she
can fall behind the activities. This program is very specific on the
instructions for the teachers to teach to the students. It is also very data
driven and there are some improvements every two weeks. The Voyager is an
extraordinary program, Mrs. Hinojosa stated “In all of my 32 years teaching, I
have never seen or taught a program like this”.
