{Multi-sensory Teaching Approach} program for dyslexic children
MTA – The Multi-sensory Teaching Approach is a 20 minuet pull-out
program.
Dyslexia – Dyslexia is a disorder of
constitutional origin manifested by a difficulty in learning to
read, write, or spell, despite conventional instruction, adequate
intelligence, and socio-cultural opportunity
Freer Norman Thomas Elementary has only
one identified dyslexic student. Teacher of the MTA program for
dyslexic students – Ms. Rosa.
Dyslexia In
General
Dyslexia- Impaired ability to learn to
read.
A Dyslexic person learns at his\her own level, and
is better in one or more subjects.
Some of their problems include difficulties with
concentration, perception, memory, verbal skills, abstract
reasoning, hand-eye coordination, social adjustment (low self-esteem
is a commonly seen as a behavioral problem), poor grades, and
underachievement.
People with
Dyslexia are thought to be lazy, rebellious, class clowns,
unmotivated, misfits, or of low intelligence.
74% of the
children who are poor readers in 3rd grade stay poor readers in the
9th grade. This means that they won’t be able to read that well as
adults.
