| The S.W.A.R.V. programs (Sharon
Wells, Accelerated Reader, Voyage) are all dedicated to the excellence of the
students. The programs provide researched based, proven instructional
strategies that will increase student achievement. The long term goals of
these programs are to gain 100% of the students reading on their grade level by
the 3rd grade. The
Sharon Wells program is a TEKS based
vertically aligned math program for grades 2-5. It focuses on the use of
manipulative materials in a problem-solving format to teach content knowledge,
problem-solving strategies, graphic skills, basic facts, and cooperative
learning.
The Accelerated Reader (A.R.) program is an
enrichment program designed to increase reading fluency and comprehension. Each
student is tested to see what their level of reading is. After testing, the
students check out and read books on the recommended levels.
Voyage Universal Literary is
the core reading program for grades K-3 at NTE. It is funded by a grant from the U.S.
Department of Education. Multiple assessments of student progress is
closely monitored by school staff.
